60th Birthday Celebration Filled with Glitz and Glamour

May 08, 2017. Category: 60th birthday celebration, birthday

For this fun loving and stylish  60 year old’s birthday party, we began by pulling inspiration from a Paperless Post invitation featuring a large gold pinata inspired 60. Silver and gold sparkle walls behind the band and photobooth provided a glitzy contrast to the industrial Dock5 venue at Union Market and set the tone for a mixed metal design scheme.

Textured gold and silver linens, ghost chairs and patent leather lounge groupings rounded out the space with little pops of just slightly blush roses. Not one to want anything stuffy Grace opted for a more fun and casual evening. The guests were greeted by scrumptious food stations like Breakfast at Midnight, activities from blackjack to pool, to a palm reader and who could forget about the band! A mirrored bar with fun frilly balloons gave the guests the perfect spot to grab one of Grace’s favorite cocktails in between songs.

Such a fun birthday celebration – Happy Birthday Grace here is to many more!

Congratulations Eleni and Brett

We can’t resit a great love story and this couple’s utterly romantic ballroom wedding at The St. Regis was one that was full of just that – LOVE!

When asked about her favorite details of her wedding day the bride said “the wedding day was exactly what we wanted and hoped it would be. The love, kindness, and company of our family and close friends made the weekend truly special and unforgettable. We cherished every moment of that weekend including getting to spend as much time as possible with the people we love.” We couldn’t think of a better description of your wedding day, other than the bride’s most memorable moment of the evening which included asking her new husband how much time they had left of the perfect day and “without pause, he replied, all the time in the world.”

Happy Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. DuBois wishing you a lifetime of love and laughter!

Happy Cinco De Mayo

May 05, 2017. Category: caterering, cinco de mayo, recipes

Is there anything better than really good guacamole and a great margarita?!

Cinco De Mayo is the perfect day to indulge and we have two easy recipes from Design Cuisine that are quick, easy and most importantly delicious!

Happy Cinco De Mayo!

Guacamole Recipe:

2 ripe avocados

1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt

1 Tbsp of fresh lime juice or lemon juice

2 Tbsp to 1/4 cup of minced red onion or thinly sliced green onion

1-2 serrano chiles, stems and seeds removed, minced

2 tablespoons cilantro (leaves and tender stems), finely chopped

A dash of freshly grated black pepper

1/2 ripe tomato, seeds and pulp removed, chopped

Cut the avocados in half. Remove seed. Score the inside of the avocado with a blunt knife and scoop out the flesh with a spoon. Mash with a  fork, roughly mash the avocado. The guacamole should be a little chunky. Add salt, lime juice, and the rest: Sprinkle with salt and lime (or lemon) juice. The acid in the lime juice will provide some balance to the richness of the avocado and will help delay the avocados from turning brown.

Add the chopped onion, cilantro, black pepper, and chiles. Chili peppers vary individually in their hotness. So, start with a half of one chili pepper and add to the guacamole to your desired degree of hotness.

Ginger- Lime Margarita Recipe for a crowd:

1 qt Lime juice

2qt Tequilla

1 1/2 qt Water

1 1/2 Simple syrup

1 cup Ginger

1/2 bunch mint

6 limes, the zest

Mix all ingredients, pour over ice and Enjoy!

Classic Romantic DC Wedding

May 02, 2017. Category: ballroom, classic, real wedding, traditional

For this sweet couple, getting married seemed more eventual than imperative. Even after dating for nearly eight and a half years, and more than enough time to think about it, they didn’t exactly have a vision for their wedding. They definitely knew the ceremony would be traditional – reflective of their shared Jewish values – and they had only one requirement for the reception: it had to be a really fun party! The couple decided on The Ritz-Carlton in Washington DC and their romantic and classic wedding quickly came to life.

The bride and groom incorporated some special details that had a personal touch, from a welcome box full of their favorite treats, to an Ariel & Ben ‘fun fact’ cocktail napkins to delicious late-night snacks and a candy buffet.

Just as they had envisioned, their guests kept the dance floor packed all night making it the perfect celebration!
