Congratulations Lindsey and Daniel

May 20, 2018. Category: anniversary

Lindsey and Daniel are a couple of bookworms with a love for great company, good drinks, and a delicious meal!

So when it came to planning their wedding, they wanted it to be a reflection of their interests and their relationship.

They incorporated their love of books in the tablescapes, table names, the bookmark place card holders and venue itself.

Lindsey’s love of renaissance Dutch art was reflected in the flower and fruit arrangements on the tables.

Happy First Anniversary Mr. And Mrs. Jacobs, we wish you a lifetime of love and laughter!

Royal Wedding

May 15, 2018. Category: bride, Royal Wedding, weddings

We all love a great love story in this industry and even more so if it is a modern day fairytale.

The Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is only 5 days away, and it is no surprise that we are all very excited for all of its pomp and pageantry!

So before we are all glued to the television at 5am on May 19th, so see THE dress, the fascinators, the Queen and everything else in between, we thought it would be fun to share who our favorite royal brides are and why.

AimeeGrace Kelly.  I just love the idea of the fairytale old Hollywood actress and an old world prince.  Grace Kelly’s modest lace dress is so timeless.  A bride could wear that in a church today and it would still be chic and stunning!

ChristinaPrincess Sofia of Sweden is my choice. Anyone that can go from a reality TV princess to a real life Princess in a few short years is a winner in my book! I also loved that for her bridal look she took notes from the forever classic Grace Kelly and my generation’s royal, the Duchess of Cambridge. I can’t forget that she topped off her look with an emerald and diamond tiara. Stunning and timeless – not bad for a reality TV star!

Debby – Duchess of Cambridge Catherine Middleton is my choice, I don’t know what I love more, her timeless and classic style or how she has adapted to becoming “a royal” with such grace. Her Alexander McQueen wedding gown was just exquisite and the Cartier Halo Scroll Tiara which was her “Something borrowed” from the Queen was the perfect finishing touch! She really is the modern day princess.

Off To The Races

May 05, 2018. Category: Kentucky Derby, Party, Party Planning

The Kentucky Derby is Today and we couldn’t be more excited! From the horses, to the famous mint julep, the incredible hats and seersucker for days what’s not to love?!

The Derby is also known as “the Run for the Roses” for the blanket of roses draped over the winner. It is also known in the United States as “The Most Exciting Two Minutes In Sports” or “The Fastest Two Minutes in Sports” in reference to its approximate duration.

 Even if you aren’t attending the event today, you can still celebrate at home! To help you create the perfect Derby Day, we found the most adorable check list, mint julep recipe and printable betting cards from the ever talented artist Evelyn Henson  {seriously how cute is her artwork!?}

According to most horse-racing experts experts, the field for the 2018 Kentucky Derby is one of the strongest and most competitive in years.

Some say that the winner could be current favorite Justify, but Audible and Mendelssohn are also in the running to win.

We don’t really know who is going to win that’s what makes it so exciting, just don’t forget to pick your favorite horse and place your bets!

Sketchbook Series

May 02, 2018. Category: inspiration, wedding planner

Coming up with new ideas for clients is one of the very best parts of my job.  That said, it can be hard to communicate something visual, that doesn’t exist yet. How lush is the floral arch?  When I say asymmetric, are you thinking the same thing? How will the lining from your invite translate onto your cake?  The last thing we want, is to replicate something that has already been done, just because we can’t find a photo of it.

I have wanted to take a sketching class to better communicate with our clients, for ages and this year, I decided to take the leap and do it!  The Sketchbook Series lead by Very Mary Inspired was hosted at Paisley and Jade in Richmond.

The two day class was life changing.  I am only half joking.  I have become obsessed!  Not only am I making time everyday to practice for our clients but I have started drawing all kinds of random things that I see.  My husband is only slightly amused by the now constant bag of sketching pad, pencils and ruler I carry.

As a small business owner, I am always trying to find ways to improve and stay current.  I can’t wait to see how the sketches I am creating will translate to real life moments for our awesome clients!

Here is a sneak peek of some fun things we are working on.
