Congratulations Blaine and Justin!

October 28, 2018. Category: anniversary, DC Wedding

The groom proposed on a cool night in January in the middle of a beautiful pine forest on his farm. He had a candlelit path to a small area next to the lake with hundreds of lights hung up and a love seat next to a blazing fire with hot chocolate ready.

In the moment he asked Blaine to marry him, Justin pulled a string that uncovered a large lit up “Marry Me?” letters behind them – He literally lit up the whole forrest!

So it was only fitting that this adorable couple’s wedding invitations included vintage  postage stamps of pines and a wedding full or endless and gorgeous greenery.

One of the couple’s favorite memories of the day was when they each messed up their vows and the entire room erupted in laughter.  It completely lightened the mood and put everyone at ease!

They opted to forgo the traditional sit-down dinner and assigned seats for themed food stations (raw bar, Italian, etc) and a combination of community tables, high tops and low tops.  This allowed their guests to eat, dance and wonder when and wherever they wanted.

They also knew they wanted to forgo the traditional cake for Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

Happy First Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Fitchett!

We wish you a lifetime of love, laughter and adventure.

Darker greens are having a moment this season and are definitely making a comeback in fashion, decor, and weddings. Which was evident at the Royal Wedding of Princess Eugenie, which took place at Windsor Castle over the weekend!

Princess Eugenie who is ninth in line to the thrown decided to forgo a veil, but she did chose to accessorize her wedding gown with the gorgeous Greville Emerald tiara (borrowed from her grandmother, the Queen)

The newest Royal, The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle has also been rocking this elegant color in many outfits lately.  Very soon we expect the gorgeous color to flood your Pinterest and Instagram feeds.

The beauty of using green is it’s ability to compliment a variety of color palattes and it can easily be incorporated into any type of florals or can stand along by itself!

The color can also make a big impact for a winter wedding as well. Using a richer shade such as emerald or hunter green, will defiantly make a bold statement for your holiday soirée.  From invitations to centerpieces, and even calligraphy have showcased these gorgeous deep greens. To top it off the color looked breathtaking on some of our bridesmaids.

There are lots of ways you can incorporate the sophisticated color into your events.

Try adding some eye catching seating into your cocktail hour with a hunter green couch or chairs. Use a gorgeous green velvet tablecloth to captivate dinner guests and make a statement. Even adding some green goblets or vintage books will your bring event decor to the next level.

Congratulations Jenna and Danny

October 07, 2018. Category: anniversary, garden wedding, real wedding

Jenna Berk and Danny Cackley have a DC version of a Hollywood romance. The two actors crossed paths multiple times at performances and at their alma mater, University of Virginia, but it wasn’t until they met at an audition in the District that they hit it off!

This adorable couple was drawn to the historic Meridian House for the venue, the gardens reminded the pair of where they got engaged.

The couple chose a custom navy + gold wedding invitation suite by Flourishing Penguin

A fall color scheme of jewel tones and charcoal provided the backdrop, and an unofficial Harry Potter-meets-Secret Garden theme (fitting of their penchant for the stage) kept the mood fun.

Happy First Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Cackley, we wish you a lifetime of love and laughter!

Flower Power

October 03, 2018. Category: fashion, Flower crown, trends, weddings

It is no surprise that what we see on the runway and in fashion magazines often finds it’s way into the weddings industry.

Fashion and weddings have so much in common – They are both a reflection of one’s style and influence. And what bigger runway for the fashion minded bride than the aisle on her wedding day?

Be it traditional, modern, or whimsical the fashion possibilities at your wedding are endless. Which leads us to the current trend that we and everyone else just can’t seem to get enough of – the Flower Crown.

As we all know, the September issue of Vogue is this most anticipated issue of the year, and this year it did not disappoint! It featured not one but two icons on the cover: Beyoncé, for American Vogue, and Rihanna for British Vogue both wearing flower crowns which clearly solidifies that this trend is here to stay!

There was no shortage of ornate flower arrangements on the runways this spring either. Rodarte created incredible big and bold flower crowns to compliment their breathtaking gowns which we are obsessed with and Chanel added embellished veils to its romantic flower crowns.

Now the only question is, will flower crowns continue to make their way into weddings and how?

One of our sweetest brides incorporated her spin on a flower crown on her wedding day and we loved it!

It was the perfect compliment to her gorgeous gown and added just the right of whimsy for her outdoor soirée.
