A Gorgeous Rustic Charleston Wedding at Cannon Green

April 21, 2019. Category: anniversary, destination wedding, uncategorized

Happy First Anniversary Ashley and Dave!

This stunning couple wanted to get married in a city that their friends and family would enjoy traveling to; Charleston was the perfect destination! With it’s gorgeous, warm, southern, and somewhat of a second home for the bride as her parents retired there in 2008.

They even made sure to give guests a list of their favorites places to see, eat, and shop so they could experience the best of what the city has to offer during their visit.

The bride wore a gorgeous bridal gown by Lela Rose

They wanted guests to see a more modern side of Charleston’s southern hospitality. They loved Cannon Green for its elegant simplicity.

They also knew that the “live wall” in the courtyard would be the perfect backdrop for the ceremony and cocktail hour (and look amazing in photos) and were drawn to the Trolley Room for its historic, industrial vibes. The two spaces complemented each other perfectly on the day.

Additionally, they picked Cannon Green for its incredible food! During cocktail hour, guests were treated to grilled peach and brie crostini, tuna tartare, lamb meatballs, crispy fried oysters, and fried chicken biscuits.

For dessert, they served guests full-size and miniature cupcakes from Sugar Bakeshop – a must if you ever visit Charleston! They loved how their signature vanilla cupcakes looked with their sugared blueberry toppers and their custom sign by Flourishing Penguin

One of their favorite details was incorporating Charleston palmetto roses into their place settings. They date back to the Civil War, when women gave men the roses to protect them from harm. Today, they are still considered symbols of true love. Many guests took theirs as keepsakes from the day.

For florals, their vision was classic flowers you see in rich, southern gardens. The bride’s bouquet had white peonies, white garden roses, Vendela roses, white anemone, olive branches, seeded eucalyptus, blue thistle, and dusty miller, and was wrapped in an ivory ribbon by Branch Design Studio

The round tables had centerpiece bouquets with similar flowers, and the gray wood rectangular tables had lush garlands made of several types of eucalyptus, succulents, blue thistle, dusty miller, accented by oyster shells and candles.

We wish you a lifetime of love, laughter and many more travel adventures!

Easter is one of those holidays where it is fun to pull out some of your family heirlooms, from your mother’s silver vases, to you grandma’s silver and your wedding china. Just make sure if you choose to use some of these pieces to keep the rest of the table light and airy – this will make it feel less stuffy.

Happy First Anniversary Amanda and Ben!

Classic DC Wedding A. Dominick Events

This classic DC wedding was full of southern charm! Amanda grew up in the area so she knew she always wanted a DC wedding! Ben however, did not. Ben’s home state is Mississippi and the couple knew they wanted to include his southern roots in their wedding at The National Museum of Women in The Arts. To achieve this, they picked an iconic DC venue and brought in some elements of the outdoors and the south to make it feel (a little) more relaxed.

They incorporated magnolia leaves into the bouquets by the bar, which is the state tree of Mississippi. Which was such a sweet nod to Ben’s home!

Amanda wanted neutral soft colors throughout the day so she chose a dusty pink for her bridesmaids and added in elements of light blue, grey, and white throughout. Maybe they were drawn to the blue because it is close to Columbia blue – their alma mater!

One of the things that was most very important to couple was that even though they were having a black tie wedding, they didn’t want it to feel stuffy or uptight. They wanted people to just be able to relax and let loose since most of their guests were traveling to attend.

The bride’s favorite memory was just dancing and singing the night away with her new husband and all the people they love most in the world!

Wishing you both a lifetime of love and laughter!

Planning a Milestone Birthday!

April 11, 2019. Category: 40th Birthday Party, 60th birthday celebration, First Birthday Party, milestone birthday party, uncategorized

Is there anything more fun than planning a birthday party?

From your child’s first birthday party to your mom’s 60th or your 40th, we love any reason to celebrate! Milestone birthdays are a great excuse to dress up, invite all of your family and friends and do something special. After all, it’s not every day that your grandma turns 100! Birthday celebrations should reflect the birthday boy or girl’s favourite things, so if your husband has always wanted to fly in a helicopter, get him a helicopter ride with somewhere like Jettly! Or if your wife has always wanted to go on a spa weekend, get her a spa weekend! Their birthday is all about them, so why not let them celebrate in style?! Here are a few of our favourite milestone celebrations:

This boho themed first birthday party for this darling little girl was colorful, relaxed and beautiful.

From the moon bounce, to the petting zoo, face painting and a performance from the Great Zucchini this lovely little’s girl first birthday party had something for everyone!

Her beautiful and delicious birthday cake by Buttercream Bakeshop was almost too pretty to eat. Thank goodness sweet Ella had her very own smash cake!

Guests gathered under a shaded tent to sit, eat and cool off! Rustic farm tables and mismatched chairs from Something Vintage along with beautiful lush flower arrangements by Sweet Root Village was boho perfection!

Even the kids table was a huge hit low farm tables with pillows, poofs were the perfect height for the littlest guests. Photography: Lisa Blume

For this fun loving and stylish 60th birthday party held at the industrial Dock5, we pulled inspiration from a PaperlessPost invitation which featured a large gold pinata inspired 60, which was the perfect theme and threaded throughout the entire party.

Guests were greeted by scrumptious food stations like Breakfast at Midnight, activities from blackjack to pool to a palm reader and who could forget about the band.

This mirrored bar with large. white frilly balloons gave the guests the perfect spot to grab one of the birthday girl’s favorite cocktails! | Catering: Design Cuisine

For this Palm Springs inspired 40th birthday celebration we wanted bright warm hues, a mix of different textures and relaxed vibes using inspired from the Parker Palm Springs hotel.

This beautiful custom and delicious birthday cake by Fluffy Thoughts was a focal point, with palm springs inspired flowers and Parker Palm Springs details it was a hit!

No birthday celebration is complete without balloons and this balloon installation was the perfect accent to the succulent plants that were given out as favors at the end of the night. Balloon Installation: All About Balloons
