Belle of the Ball

Picking bridesmaid dresses can be overwhelming as we all know how hard it is to find one dress and color that not only looks good on everyone but that everyone likes! Here are a few tips that will hopefully make your bridesmaid dress shopping less stressful and your bridesmaids happy!

1.  We often find that choosing a color that looks good on all skin tones will make the decision of which dress to pick a lot easier. We often find that our brides gravitate to lighter colors such as a pale pink, light lavender or baby blue in either the same silhouette or a similar one. This allows the bridesmaids to pick the silhouette that they feel the most comfortable with, but also ensuring that the bride still has some control of the final look!

2. For the bride who isn’t too concerned with having all of her bridesmaids in the same dress, a great way to keep everything cohesive but not look too matchy-matchy is to allow her bridesmaids to pick a dress that they like in either the same color or an array of colors that still compliment each other.

3.  Something that we don’t see very often but when done correctly is an unexpected show stopper is to have your bridesmaids wear white! It is the perfect neutral and when the the silhouette of the dress is the same and the fabric is either a soft organza, flowing tulle or a sleek silk both you and your bridesmaids will most certainly be the belles of the ball!

Maid to Order

February 13, 2012. Category: bridesmaid dresses
Are you looking for an easier way to shop for bridesmaid dresses? There is a hot new website called Weddington Way, where you can shop by style, price, theme, length, designer, neckline, and/or fabrics.
When you find something you like, you can save it to your favorites and then send it to your bridesmaids. By sending your bridesmaids invitations not only can they view your favorite dresses, but they can also rank them, comment on what they like and don’t like about them, and order on the spot based on detailed measurements (they carry up to size 28). You can even order swatches for $5 each.

The only hitch,  take ten to fourteen weeks to arrive, so be sure to order them well in advance!

To have and to hold

February 16, 2011. Category: bridesmaid dresses, dress

Everyone and their mother has blogged about Antropologie’s new wedding line BHLDN, but I am so excited that I just have to jump on the bandwagon.  The looks are eclectic and ethereal and gowns start at only $600. But it doesn’t stop there – they have amazing jewelry, headpieces, shoes, handbags and bridesmaids dresses. I may just have to  buy a few things, or a ton, for myself!
