Let them eat cake!

Did you know that today is National Cake Day?

Over here we take cake very seriously, especially if it involves decadent and gorgeous   wedding cakes, especially when they are covered in buttercream and fondant and then topped with beautiful and charming details that make each one unique to the couple!

From fresh flowers, metallic accents, love birds, a vintage topper and hand painted leaves, we are still swooning over some of our favorite wedding cakes, now if only we could have a piece… Enjoy!

Skip the Cake

April 19, 2016. Category: cake, catering, dessert

We can’t resist a sweet treat, especially at weddings! Though we love a traditional wedding cake we get very excited when our couples decided skip the cake and indulge in some alternative confectionary treats! From unique ice cream pops, bite-sized pies to a roaming candy bar the possibilities are endless!

Is there anything better than a candy bar at a wedding? We don’t think so, especially when it is a roaming one, this way every guest has a chance to indulge in their favorite confectionary treat!

Pleasant Pops in Washington DC is a wonderful alternative to traditional wedding desserts. Whether your wedding is indoors or outdoors, their vintage ice cream cart can serve hundreds of your guests. With so many wonderful and unique flavors it is hard to pick just one, but a few of our favorite flavors include Watermelon Mint and New Orleans Iced Coffee.

The perfect bite-size dessert alternative at a wedding is to serve a variety of mini pies. These delicious confections will satisfy any craving! Especially if they come in delicious flavors such as classic apple pie, chocolate cream pie and cherry pie, just to name a few!

A touch of glamour

February 22, 2016. Category: cake, decor, inspiration, theme, weddings

A great way to add a bit of glamour to your wedding day is by incorporating a few metallic details into your decor, cake and even your flowers!

Though the traditional white wedding cake will always be in style, a great way to add a bit of allure to any cake is by incorporating subtle metallics. From gold gilded leaves, to edible metallic luster dust, or a laser cut cake topper the possibilities are endless!

An unexpected and elegant way to add metallic touches into your wedding is with your flowers! Paring modern painted gold leaves with a traditional white bouquet is the perfect mix of old and new.

When incorporating metallic accents into your decor, it can be as simple and elegant as using gold chargers and matching vases, to more dramatic and elaborate such as making it your overall theme. Which ever one you choose, they will definitely add just the right amount of glitz and glamour to any wedding.

From Inspiration to Reality

September 26, 2014. Category: anniversary, cake, decor, inspiration, real wedding

In the world of Pinterest and countless wedding blogs many brides can get overwhelmed when it comes to creating an cohesive look for their day. An old fashioned inspiration board can be a great way to escape all the pins and find some clarity in your vision.

In honor of Carlla and Otey’s one year anniversary we are looking back at their inspiration board and how their Charlottesville wedding came together in some gorgeous images by Tec Petaja.

A huge thanks to Amaryllis, Inc. for the breathtaking florals!
