Hillary and Scott both grew up in the DC area and met when they were in elementary school, so getting married in DC was important to both of them.

They wanted to have a classic and traditional wedding, so they chose the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution for their wedding reception and were married at Holy Rosary Church

They went to The Jefferson Memorial for their bridal party photos, which were just beautiful, you really can’t go wrong with taking photos at the monuments the architecture alone is just breathtaking and makes the perfect backdrop

Congratulations Catherine and Keith

December 09, 2018. Category: anniversary, DC Wedding, real wedding, winter wedding

Catherine and Keith met and fell in love in DC, though they spend a number of years in San Francisco before moving back to Washington, shortly after they got engaged, so it felt only natural to have a classic District wedding.

The Decatur House felt like the perfect venue for them – charming, full of history, and close to so many DC landmarks. When they decided on a December wedding, the bride was thrilled. She loves the holiday season, and was so excited to plan a winter wedding.

They wanted to include holiday touches and create a cozy, festive atmosphere – so they planned a hot cocoa bar, hung mistletoe at the entrance to the carriage house, and had snowfall lighting effects behind the DJ!

Congratulations Catherine and Chris

November 04, 2018. Category: anniversary, DC Wedding, gallery wedding, modern wedding

This lovely couple enjoy exploring “the real DC,” so a modern venue in their favorite neighborhood was a priority Long View Gallery  provided the perfect backdrop to allow them to include details that reflected who they were as a couple.

Caroline and Chris wanted to make sure all of their guests felt as if they were entertaining them in their own home.

Live music, outstanding food and great cocktails were very important.

They included elements in their cocktail hour that originated from their childhoods: lobster rolls from Chris’ home town of Gloucester, MA, chips and seven layer dip as part of a long running family joke for Catherine.

They also picked craft beers from locations that were special to their relationship, to reflect their first date. Chris and Catherine also both love cheese and charcuterie, so they included a large cheese bar in the cocktail hour, and family-style charcuterie boards at each table during dinner. Their wedding felt intimate, warm and welcoming exactly what this couple wanted!

Happy First Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Hayes

We wish you a lifetime of love, laughter and many more days exploring your favorite city!

Congratulations Blaine and Justin!

October 28, 2018. Category: anniversary, DC Wedding

The groom proposed on a cool night in January in the middle of a beautiful pine forest on his farm. He had a candlelit path to a small area next to the lake with hundreds of lights hung up and a love seat next to a blazing fire with hot chocolate ready.

In the moment he asked Blaine to marry him, Justin pulled a string that uncovered a large lit up “Marry Me?” letters behind them – He literally lit up the whole forrest!

So it was only fitting that this adorable couple’s wedding invitations included vintage  postage stamps of pines and a wedding full or endless and gorgeous greenery.

One of the couple’s favorite memories of the day was when they each messed up their vows and the entire room erupted in laughter.  It completely lightened the mood and put everyone at ease!

They opted to forgo the traditional sit-down dinner and assigned seats for themed food stations (raw bar, Italian, etc) and a combination of community tables, high tops and low tops.  This allowed their guests to eat, dance and wonder when and wherever they wanted.

They also knew they wanted to forgo the traditional cake for Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

Happy First Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Fitchett!

We wish you a lifetime of love, laughter and adventure.
